April 2015 Show and Tell

Welcome to April show and tell.  First up we have a quilted (but not quite bound), quilt made from fabrics from Imogen (who passed away).  Her Friday stitching group put this quilt together and are going to present it to her husband.

This is Stephanie's quilt that she gifted to her sister in law.  Quilted by Leanne from Quilt Me Kiwi.

The club decided we wanted something more modern for our raffle quilt for the upcoming exhibition in January.  Here is the top put together by assorted generous club members - Stephanie especially.  Thanks Steph!

Ingrid's been making more napkin/serviette holders.

And here is Ingrid's quilt made from a panel.  It's long enough to cover her feet when she stretches out in her lazyboy, so she's keeping this one.

Vicki and Janet brought along fabrics that they dyed in Charlotte's low-water immersion dyeing class.  Yummy colours!

Vicki also showed off her turtle wall hanging started in a Susan Carlson class.  Vicki finished her edges with satin stitch, a departure from Susan's technique, but it worked beautifully.

Shirley showed off this colourful table runner.

And two small pieces that she started in Rosalie Dace's class.  Earth and Fire.

Anne shared her train quilt that she started at retreat.  Lots of fun!

Charlotte has been machine sketching and colouring in with coloured pencil.

Judith showed off a jelly roll race type quilt made with solid strips - all leftovers.  Shows what you can do with scraps.

We had planned to make a good start on the second prize raffle quilt.  Some people brought machines and sewed, some cut and some pressed.  Before you knew it, we had most of a twin size top ready to be stitched together.  Teamwork!

  See you next month!

  2. Hi Kerikeri Quilting group!
    Love your quilts!
I thought I would reach out from Sydney Australia! The annual quilt fair is on in Sydney at the moment and to coincide with the fair one of the local shops call The Remnant Warehouse is offering 25% off all the patchwork fabrics, including jelly rolls, layer cakes, backings and waddings etc. I’m a regular customer there and they ship to New Zealand a lot- I’ve sent fabric over there for family members before and it arrived a lot quicker than I was expecting. Just thought I would let you know because a lot of my family over there say it’s hard sourcing fabrics sometimes, so thought I would let you know in case you were looking to pick up some bargains in the sale which goes until Monday 22nd June. https://www.theremnantwarehouse.com.au/fabrics/patchwork-american-cottons/patchwork-cottons.html

  3. HI kerikeri Quilting Group
I will be visiting next week and hopefully will be able to make it to one of your meetings.
I was wondering if any of you are interested in vintage sewing machines and if so how easy they are to find in New Zealand.
    thanks
    Valerie
