RETREAT 13th - 15th APRIL

Here is a few photos of projects worked on over the weekend.
There were 12 of us who enjoyed each other's company while working on our own projects.

 Vicky's table runner top

Jane's traditional blocks

Leonie's basket of flowers

a close up of the flowers.

Sheryl's quilt which she is hand quilting.

The start of another project for Vicky

Gayleen's bandanna quilt for a 10 year old boy.

Alison's quilt. This is the same pattern as above.
 Don't they look so different!

Ingrid's design of a heart quilt.

Gayleen chopped up some pale green blocks (as top of picture) to create some lovely bassinet quilts.

Another bassinet quilt made from some leftover half square triangles.

Beatrice busy at her machine.

The completed denim and scrap quilt.

Back of the quilt.

Here is the back of the quilt in a close up.
The denim is from cut up old jeans.

March 2018 Show and Tell

Our March meeting was a community quilts day.  Which means everyone was working on donation quilts that will be given away - our most frequent recipient is Women's Refuge.

One of the in progress quilts.  Luckily, we have our dedicated community quilts coordinator, Daryl, to keep projects organised and give everyone a job.

We did still do our usual show and tell, and here is Judith with a quilt made for a relative of hers.  The stitching all represents something important in her life.

Shirley (in hiding), with a finally finished UFO made from hand-dyed fabrics.

Beatrice with a scrap buster quilt.

And another one.  She swears that her scraps are breeding behind her back because despite her most valiant efforts with these two quilts, the scrap pile keeps getting bigger!

Stephanie was just finishing the binding on this donation bassinet quilt.

Elaine had whipped up this cute cot quilt to donate (it's flannelette, so super soft).

This is a pile of donation bassinet quilts made by club members for the local maternity unit.

And here is Judith again with another lovely quilt.

See you next month!

February 2018 Show and Tell

Our meetings in January are typically held at a member's house.  The meeting is called 'The Big Day Out' and everyone takes part in a mystery activity organised on behalf.  Sorry - no photos of the day because I didn't attend, but I heard it was great fun as usual!

This next lot of photos is from February's show and tell:

Ingrid made a sewing machine cover, showcasing all the decorative stitches of her machine.

She also made this super cute I Spy quilt, complete with dollies that come out of the pockets.

Another of Ingrid's, this one a challenge to use all the fabrics.

Ingrid again with a donation bassinet quilt.

And Ingrid gets the award for most unusual item shown at show and tell with this clock she decorated!

These were the hand sewing mystery activity that was done at The Big Day Out.  I believe there was a raffle draw and the winner of all the blocks made has intentions of stitching them all together into a quilt.

Gayleen is hiding behind this healing hearts quilt, made by her and her friends for someone going through a rough time.

Anne wins the award for use of colour!!

And this is Anne's too, an embroidered tissue box cover.

See you next month!
