There was 9 of us who gathered for a three day retreat.

August Show and Tell

Judy has been doing some experimental work - the feature of this one is a waterfall.

Enda is holding the donation community quilt that she finished the binding on.

Anne donated four of these bright bassinet quilts for the maternity unit.

Vicky is holding up a donation quilt that she finished up after community quilts day.

I can't remember what this one is, but I'm pretty sure that's Daryl holding it up and so I think it's either a donation quilt or she is showing us one of her scrap quilts.

The next few quilts are all scrap quilts that Daryl has made over the years.  We were having a learning session on how to deal with scraps, so Daryl brought is some examples.

Another donation bassinet quilt.

Shirley made this for her musical relative who owns a persian blue cat!

Donation Bassinet Quilts

I missed the last club meeting so I haven't got photos of show and tell. Instead, I was handed a bag of donation bassinet quilts and woollies for the maternity unit where I work.  The bassinet quilts give a much needed boost of colour to the postnatal rooms and make the place feel a little more homely.  We had run very low on quilts so a few months ago I put a call out to the club.  The response has been amazing and our cupboards are getting full of colour and quilted love!

I'm taking a guess when I say the woollies were knitted by Jane.

The two quilts above were made by Gayleen from leftovers. I love the hand quilted, big stitch circles.

I'm pretty sure the matching kiwi quilts were made by Beatrice. Cute!

These bright batiks were leftovers from Imogen's stash.  Imogen passed away a few years ago, but I think she'd be happy to see her legacy going to the babies.

I'm sorry, I can't remember who made these, but they look like orphan blocks put to good use.

Thanks everyone, the babies will be warm and cosy this winter.

Gayleen chopped up some pale green blocks (as top of picture) to create some lovely bassinet quilts.
